This is the blog of the faculty of the Ave Maria University Philosophy Department. We post our philosophical reflections on perennial and contemporary questions as well as on Departmental and University news and other topics of interest.
Peter Geach, one of the leading British philosophers of the 20th century and, together with his wife G.E.M. Anscombe, sometimes described as an “analytical Thomist,” died December 21. Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei.
I just heard the news of Geach’s death a few days ago. There is an obituary by Jane O’Grady in The Guardian and a blog post by Francis Phillips at The Catholic Herald. Anscombe died in 2001.
