    Aquinas and “the Arabs”

Michael Dougherty of the Philosophy Department of Ohio Dominican University has posted at Thomistica.net a list of calls for papers and upcoming events and conferences promoted by the Aquinas and “the Arabs” International Working Group. If you are interested in the relationship between Aquinas and Arabic thought, you should check out Michael’s post.

As explained on its website, the Aquinas and “the Arabs” International Working Group “promotes understanding and insight into philosophical and theological issues prominent in the Medieval period in the Abrahamic traditions in Arabic, Hebrew and Latin writings.” The group’s major focus is on “issues in the thought of Aquinas which elucidate the depth of his engagement with the Arabic and Jewish traditions and the positive and valuable influence of those traditions on his thought and that of Christian thinkers of the high middle ages in Europe.”

Although I know some of the people in the group, I’m not personally involved with it. I do think it is an extremely worthwhile project. If you would like to know more about it, follow the above link to the website.
